How much does it cost to register with Captain Ad?

The registration as a publisher with Captain Ad is free and without any obligations.

Which technical requirements are necessary as far as my web pages / my web server is concerned?

Your web pages do not have to meet any particular technical requirements for the integration of Captain Ad. You do not have to run PHP/CGI or the likes on your web server and you do not need to install anything. You only have to have access to the HTML source code in order to be able to insert the Captain Ad Code.

Can I integrate Captain Ad into my blog?

If you can alter the HTML source code of your blogsoftware it should not be a problem. If you use WordPress for example go to the menu option "Presentation" » "Theme Editor" and open the file "header.php" and insert the Captain Ad Code within the <head> tag.

With some hosted blogs, e.g. blogs hosted on wordpress.com, this function is deactivated for security reasons. Unfortunately you can not use Captain Ad on these hosted blogs.

What kind of videos does Captain Ad recognize?

Captain Ad currently supports the players of the following video portals:Youtube, Veoh, Myvideo, Sevenload, Vimeo, Yahoo, Google, Break, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Intv, Megavideo, JW Player.

Is there a minimum size for videos?

Our ads require a minimum size of 300x275px for the video. Smaller videos will be ignored.

With which browsers does Captain Ad work?

Captain Ad supports the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox 3+, Microsoft Internet Explorer 7+, Safari 3+ under Windows and Mac OS X.

How am I paid as a publisher?

You are paid by Captain Ad each time an ad is shown to a user on one of your websites. This means that the user has seen the ad and the ad was not covered by any other elements on your website. You can find more information in Captain Ad for Publishers

When do I see the views and the earnings in my "Captain" Ad account?

All views generated on a certain day are visible in your account at Captain Ad at 0:00 am of the following day. The resulting earnings are calculated until 9:00 am of the same day and will then be shown in your account at Captain Ad. This delay allows us to check all views for their validity to prevent attempts of fraud. Pls. consider: all times used by Captain Ad are Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). To get Eastern Standard Time (EST) you have to subtract 5:00 hours, to get Pacific Standard Time (PST) you have to subtract 8:00 hours.

How does Captain Ad pay out my earnings?

Holders of a German bank account can choose between PayPal and a direct transfer to their bank account. If you do not have a German bank account you can use PayPal. The currency of payouts is either US Dollaer or Euro and depends on the country you registered with. A payout is possible if you have more than 15 Euros in your account.

Do foreign visitors of my Website also see ads by Captain Ad?

Foreign visitors see ads in their own language i.e. for their respective country. Currently Captain Ad delivers ads for visitors from Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, England, USA, Canada, Poland, Netherland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Schweden, Australia, Russia, Japan and China. All other visitors of your website will not see the ads by Captain Ad.

Why is there a discrepancy of my revenues with Captain Ad from the number of visitors and page impressions on my website?

1.) Not every visitor of your website is actually watching a video (our ad is only shown if a user watches a video on your website).
2.) Some of your traffic comes from countries we do not support (users from countries not in this list are not shown any ads by us: http://www.captainad.com/pages/earning)
3.) Not all of the players you are using on your website are supported (you can find a list of supported players here: http://www.captainad.com/pages/supported_players)
4.) Delivery cappings from our advertisers prevent your users from seeing the same ad too often
